2015 Oscars: Gold Rush Gang Predictions September 2014 – The Imitation Game Cracks the Code
In Best Supporting Actor we have a bit more competition. Yes, Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo are a strong #1 and #2 but Whiplash‘s J.K. Simmons is making a play at #3. Both Ruffalo and Simmons are from Sony Pictures Classics and if Scott Feinberg is to be believed (and he’s usually really good about this), with Steve Carell and Channing Tatum both being pushed for lead in Foxcatcher that gives both Ruffalo and Simmons an excellent shot at scoring nods here.
Dwindling support for Inherent Vice recently has dropped Josh Brolin down a bit, expect him to be out of the top 5 next month unless we see a resurgence for the film, possibly after the New York Film Festival where it’s a Centerpiece. After that it’s two men from Selma, Tom Wilkinson and Tim Roth, both previous Oscar nominees.
Japanese singer Miyavi has a bit of support for Unbroken, as does Neil Patrick Harris in Gone Girl, who’s seen his stock rise and fall throughout this season.
