2016 Oscar Predictions: ADAPTED and ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
With Room hitting nearly every single critics awards Adapted Screenplay nomination list, the fight for the #1 spot is as close as its ever been. Interestingly enough, Carol‘s screenplay has missed out on quite a few mentions so those two are highly likely to swap places very soon. One stumble in Room‘s future will be its ineligibility at the Writers Guild of America nominations. The Big Short and Brooklyn are also very strong and that 5th spot is going to be a fight. The Martian or will Steve Jobs stage a comeback? Or will Anomalisa trump them both?

While it seemed like Original Screenplay was getting close to locked, the less than glowing reviews of Joy have knocked the film down to the #5 slot and as Ex Machina continues to rise with the critics awards there is a chance it will surpass Joy and end up an Oscar nominee. Outside of this list though is Trainwreck, which could also spoil. Spotlight, however, sits high on its #1 perch with a perfect score.
