2025 Gotham Film Awards to Present ‘Sinners’ with the Gotham Awards Ensemble Tribute

The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced today that Warner Bros’ Sinners, written and directed by Ryan Coogler, will receive The 2025 Gotham Awards Ensemble Tribute at the 35th Annual Gotham Film Awards Ceremony, taking place on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. With this tribute, The Gotham will honor Sinners’ acclaimed ensemble cast, which includes Michael B. Jordan (in dual roles as Smoke and Stack), Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, Buddy Guy, Li Jun Li, Delroy Lindo and more.
“Led by Michael B. Jordan’s magnificent dual roles, the remarkable ensemble cast of Sinners gives bracing, inspired performances that create one of the great cinematic experiences of the year,” said Jeffrey Sharp, Executive Director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute. “Each talented member of this group brings a rich intensity and authenticity throughout the film’s unique twists and turns. We’re thrilled that the brilliant Ryan Coogler will present the Ensemble Tribute to Michael and the extraordinary cast at this year’s Gotham Film Awards.”
Sinners is a genre-bending and multi-layered exploration of Black culture and the Blues music that is unique to it through the lens of a Southern Gothic epic. Set in 1932 Mississippi, Michael B. Jordan stars as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who, after chasing success in the North, return to Clarksdale, MS to open a juke joint and revive the soul and spirit of their hometown. As music and dance meld in celebration of artistry, culture and history, an evil descends, threatening to devour the fabric and heart of the community – and all that Smoke and Stack have worked to achieve.
Warner Bros. Pictures released Sinners theatrically in the United States on April 18, 2025 to critical acclaim and commercial success, earning over $366M worldwide. Written, directed and produced by Ryan Coogler, the film is also produced by Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian under their production banner Proximity Media. The film features an original score by two-time Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Oppenheimer); Ultra Panavision 70 and IMAX 70mm cinematography by Autumn Durald Arkapaw; costume design by two-time Oscar winner Ruth E. Carter; production design by Oscar winner Hannah Beachler; and casting by Francine Maisler.
The Gotham Awards Ensemble Tribute was created in 2005 to recognize the talented casts whose artistry and chemistry captivate audiences on the big screen. Since the category’s inception, the Gotham Awards’ Ensemble tribute has been awarded to notable projects, including Moonlight, The Hurt Locker, Babel, Winter’s Bone, The Favourite, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Fire Island, and most recently, The Piano Lesson, among others.
It was previously announced that Frankenstein director Guillermo del Toro and stars Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi will receive The Gotham Vanguard Tribute.
Winners of the 35th Annual Gotham Film Awards will be honored at the awards ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday, December 1, 2025. Nominees will be announced on October 28th, 2025.
