FINAL 2026 Oscar Predictions: FILM EDITING

With ACE and BAFTA, One Battle After Another has the edge over Sinners and F1 in film editing, a crucial connector to the Best Picture race.
All three films went head to head to head at Critics Choice, where F1 won, then BAFTA where One Battle won. American Cinema Editors (ACE) split their categories between drama and comedy where Sinners bested F1 and One Battle handily beat out its comedic competition.
So while One Battle is the frontrunner here, like many categories if they’re announced early in the show, is Sinners wins here you can probably see what’s coming later. But, Ford v Ferrari lost to Parasite here in 2019 only to go on to win the Oscar even after losing BAFTA so, vroom vroom bitches. We’ll see who crosses that finish line soon.
Here are my final winner predictions in Film Editing for the 98th Academy Awards, which will take place on March 15, live at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California.
| 1. One Battle After Another (Warner Bros); Andy Jurgensen | ACE, BAFTA, CCA |
| 2. Sinners (Warner Bros); Michael P. Shawver | ACE, BAFTA, CCA |
| 3. F1 (Apple Original Films); Stephen Mirrione | ACE, BAFTA, CCA |
| 4. Marty Supreme (A24); Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie | ACE, BAFTA, CCA |
| 5. Sentimental Value (NEON); Olivier Bugge Coutté | ACE, BAFTA |
