Blythe Danner’s ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams’ Is First Oscar Screener of the Season
And we’re off! The first screener going out to Oscar voters this season is I’ll See You In My Dreams starring potential Best Actress contender Blythe Danner and distributed by newcomers Bleecker Street Films.
The Sundance film was a sleeper hit this summer, earning more than $7M. Being the first can have its benefits. It worked out well for A Better Life and Junebug but more recently Snowpiercer and Mud were the first out of the gate to no avail. It will all depend on how Bleecker Street can manage this campaign. They’re smart being the first and they also have another Oscar contender on the way, this fall’s Trumbo starring Bryan Cranston and distributing Beasts of No Nation from Netflix.
