Natalie Portman is exquisite in the first trailer and poster for JACKIE

The first teaser trailer for Pablo Larraín’s Jackie is here and it’s quite a moody, creepy piece. Set to the reprise of “Camelot” and shot in a standard aspect ratio and with Natalie Portman voiceover as First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, the 1:40 teaser evoked Birth, starring Nicole Kidman, for me. It’s lush and spooky and intriguing all at once and Portman is breathtaking.

Known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, here we see a psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of “Camelot” that they created and loved so well.[/box]
Jackie was directed by Pablo Larraín (Neruda, No, The Club),written by Noah Oppenheim (The Maze Runner, Allegiant) and co-stars Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, John Hurt, Max Casella and John Carroll Lynch and Beth Grant. Mica Levi (Under the Skin) composed the score and the film was produced by Darren Aronofsky, Mickey Liddell, Scott Franklin and Ari Handel.
Portman, a major Best Actress contender this year, sits at #2 in this month’s Oscar predictions from the Gold Rush Gang and from the Forum Oscar Poll results.
Jackie hits theaters in limited release on December 2nd, then wider on December 9th, from Fox Searchlight.
