Directors Guild of America (DGA) Winners – Iñárritu Beats Linklater
Well, it happened; Alejandro G. Iñárritu has won the Directors Guild of America award for Best Director of 2014 for Birdman, besting perceived frontrunner Richard Linklater for Boyhood.

This is Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s third DGA Award nomination. He was previously nominated in this category for Babel in 2006. He won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials for “Best Job” (Proctor and Gamble) in 2012.

This is Laura Poitras’s first DGA Award nomination.
