‘Bombshell,’ ‘Rocketman, lead Makeup and Hair Stylists Guild nominations (MUAH)

Real life dramas lead nominations for the 2020 Makeup and Hair Stylist’s guild today with Lionsgate’s Bombshell and Paramount Pictures’ Rocketman earning three apiece.

Bombshell, which details the story of the women of Fox News who decide to take down Roger Ailes earned nominations for Best Contemporary Makeup, Special Makeup Effects and Contemporary Hairstyling for transforming Charlize Theron into Megyn Kelly, John Lithgow into Ailes and more.

Rocketman is the warts and all musical biopic of Grammy and Oscar winning music legend Elton John by way of Taron Egerton from his childhood to his adulthood facing drug, alcohol and sex addictions as his career skyrockets.

Downton Abbey, Dolemite Is My Name, Hustlers, Joker and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood also showed up with mentions today.

On the television side Chernobyl, Fosse/Verdon, Game of Thrones and GLOW found multiple nominations.

Winners will be honored at the black-tie gala on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at The Novo by Microsoft at L.A. Live.

Erik Anderson is the founder/owner and Editor-in-Chief of AwardsWatch and has always loved all things Oscar, having watched the Academy Awards since he was in single digits; making lists, rankings and predictions throughout the show.
