The Casting Society of America (CSA) today announced the film nominees for the 37th Artios Awards, which honor the contribution of Casting Directors to film, television and theatre.
Among the nominees for feature film dramas, which are split between big budget and independent films, include House of Gucci, King Richard, The Power of the Dog, CODA, Belfast and The Hand of God. For comedies we have Cruella, The French Dispatch, The Tender Bar and Zola.
In low budget and micro budget categories, which combine drama and comedy, we have Shiva Baby, The Humans, The Novice and Swan Song (the one starring Udo Kier) among the nominees. On the flip side, the group’s Zeitgeist Award houses blockbuster sci-fi films like The Matrix Resurrections, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Tomorrow War and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
For animated films the nominees are: Encanto, Luca, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Raya and the Last Dragon and Vivo.
The CSA nominations for television, theatre and more were previously announced, including A Black Lady Sketch Show, Bridgerton, The Kominsky Method and The Queen’s Gambit, and can be found here.
Since 1985, the Artios Awards have honored Casting Directors in more than 20 different categories encompassing film, television and theatre. In addition, special honorees are selected for their contributions to the craft. Nominees and winners are voted on by members of the Casting Society of America.
Last year’s winners included The Trial of the Chicago 7, Minari, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, The 40-Year Old Version and Soul.
The winners will be revealed on Thursday, March 17, 2022 in a virtual ceremony. Here is the full list of nominees.
