Interview: Busy Philipps on ‘Girls5Eva,’ Disneyland travel hacks and finally learning to live for herself [VIDEO]

Busy Philipps is hard to classify. She is an accomplished writer, has a highly successful podcast, has a legion of fans following her on Instagram, and manages to do all this while being a mother of two and starring in a hit TV show. In fact, after speaking with Philipps over Zoom, I’m not sure she’d say acting is even her top priority which is crazy because she loves the process.

From Freaks and Geeks, Dawson’s Creek, ER, Cougar Town, and I Feel Pretty, she’s been in front of the camera since her early 20’s, so it’s weird to say that Girls5Eva is her big breakout role but that appears to be the case. her role of Summer was written with her in mind and she is amazing in the part. What’s crazy is how Philipps feels so connected to the role based on her own life experiences. This comes up in our discussion.

We also discussed parenting, traveling with kids, and why going to Disneyland isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

The first season of Girls5Eva can be streamed on Peacock. Busy Philipps is Emmy eligible for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
