2021 has certainly been the year of Colman Domingo. Whether it’s stunning onlookers on the red carpet with his latest looks, photoshoots in Architectural Digest, escaping zombies on Fear The Walking Dead or hosting his widely successful Bottomless Brunch on AMC’s YouTube channel, there doesn’t seem to be stopping this renaissance man. Domingo also has 3 major movies releasing in 2021: The God Committee, Zola and Candyman.
While Colman is already receiving deafening levels of buzz about his performance in Zola and the anticipation for Candyman is growing by the second, his performance in The God Committee is one that shouldn’t be ignored. He joins Kelsey Grammer, Julia Stiles, Janeane Garofalo, Dan Hedaya, and Peter Kim in a film that goes into how hospital politics plays a role in every aspect of the facility, even in the committee which decides the patient that’s next for a transplant. Domingo plays Father Dunbar who serves as the moral backbone of this story and this group has to weigh what’s best for the hospital with what’s best for the patient.
What was interesting to me is how Domingo admitted in our discussion how much he learned about this process while filming in 2019. I’m right there with you! The award-winning actor/writer/director/producer also goes into how he learned of the film and about it was he attracted to most of all.
Be sure to check out The God Committee during its limited release in theaters or on-demand July 2nd.
