Interview: Leslie Jordan on ‘Call Me Kat’ and his 40-year ‘overnight success’ career [VIDEO]

Leslie Jordan is an instantly recognizable actor, possibly even more because of his distinctive voice than his physical appearance. He’s been a fixture on TV for more than three decades, making a memorable impression with his strong Southern accent and the immutable energy that reaches much higher than his 4’11” stature. He won an Emmy for playing Karen Walker’s nemesis Beverly Leslie on Will & Grace, and recently starred in The Cool Kids on Fox.
His latest series regular role is as Phil, a baker and cat lover, on Call Me Kat. I had a truly delightful time speaking with Jordan about coming to this part, his favorite TV roles, and plenty more.
Season one of Call Me Kat aired on FOX and is available to stream on Hulu. Leslie Jordan is eligible for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
