New Trailer for ‘La La Land’ Features Original Song “Audition”
A new trailer for Damien Chazelle’s highly anticipated follow-up to Whiplash, La La Land, is here and with it a glimpse at another of the modern-day musical’s original songs. Like the first teaser, which gave us Ryan Gosling’s piano tinkling and his vocals on “City of Stars,” the new teaser gives us Emma Stone singing “Audition,” as she shrugs and shuffles her way through Hollywood casting calls. Quite cleverly, the title credits are also flipped from the first teaser, with Stone receiving first credit now. The tone of the new teaser still retains the wonderful, dream-like quality of the first and gives us even more of the film’s gorgeous production design, despite still not showing us a single line of dialogue.
The film, which is set to hit the Venice, Toronto and Telluride film festivals this fall is quietly positioning itself to be not just a major Oscar contender but possibly for the win, and in doing so would break the 11-year curse of the December release. Check out where La La Land currently sits in the Best Picture race according to AwardsWatch’s Gold Rush Gang.
