North Carolina Film Critics Association (NCFCA): ‘Once Upon a Time…’ leads nominations

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD (Sony/Columbia)

The North Carolina Film Critics Association (NCFCA) has announced its nominations for the best in film for 2019 and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has come out on top with 8 mentions, including Best Film, Best Director (Tarantino), Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), Best Supporting Actor (Brad Pitt) and Best Supporting Actress (Margot Robbie).

Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story was next with 6 nominations, The Irishman and Parasite with 5 and earning four nominations each were 1917, Jojo Rabbit and The Farewell.

Winners will be announced on January 3. Here is the full list of nominations including The Ken Hanke Memorial Tar Hell Award, which recognizes films, artists, or performers with a special connection to North Carolina. In 2017, the Tar Heel Award was dedicated to longtime North Carolina film critic Ken Hanke.
