Nothing is what it seems in the trippy trailer for ‘I’m Thinking of Ending Things’
If it’s from Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation.) you can expect it to be a thought provoking mindbender and indeed, the first trailer for I’m Thinking of Ending Things is just that.
Despite second thoughts about their relationship, a young woman (Jessie Buckley) takes a road trip with her new boyfriend (Emmy nominee Jesse Plemons) to his family farm. Trapped at the farm during a snowstorm with Jake’s mother (Emmy and Academy Award nominee Toni Collette) and father (David Thewlis), the young woman begins to question the nature of everything she knew or understood about her boyfriend, herself, and the world.
I’m Thinking of Ending Things is directed and written by Academy Award winner Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and is inspired by Iain Reid’s bestselling novel of the same name. It features cinematography by Academy Award nominee Łukasz Żal (Cold War), production design by Molly Hughes (art director for Harry Potter films, War Horse), costumes designed by Melissa Toth (FX’s Fosse/Verdon and edited by Robert Frazen (Synecdoche, New York). Rosa Tran (Anomalisa, Robot Chicken) is the animation producer, soloist and choreographer with New York City Ballet Peter Walker is the film’s choreographer.
I’m Thinking of Ending Things will be released globally on Netflix September 4, 2020.
