The first teaser trailer for Peter Berg’s Boston bombing drama Patriots Day, starring Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg, is here and it’s chock-full of Americana from beginning to end. Set to the strains of the Star Spangled Banner, we see police sergeant Wahlberg kiss his wife goodbye in the morning not knowing what would be in store for him later that day. It nearly mirrors the setup for the other Berg/Wahlberg collaboration this year, Deepwater Horizon.
From CBS Films:
[box type=”shadow” align=”” class=”” width=””]In the aftermath of an unspeakable attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard Deslauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston.[/box]
The screenplay was written by Peter Berg, Matt Cook and Joshua Zetumer from a story by Peter Berg, Matt Cook, Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson. It was produced by Scott Stuber, Mark Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky.
Academy® & Grammy® Award-winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl) will compose the score for the film.
PATRIOTS DAY will open in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles on December 21st, 2016. The film will open nationwide on January 13th, 2017.
