The Producers Guild of America has revealed its 2021-22 awards season calendar that includes nomination and awards dates and a return to an in-person ceremony.

The org has set its 33rd Producers Guild Awards for Saturday, February 26, at the newly renovated Fairmont Century Plaza, with nominations for film and television to be announced on Thursday, January 27, the same day that Oscar nomination voting begins. This awards ceremony date puts them just one day before the Screen Actors Guild Awards and one month before the Oscars, which are on March 27, 2022.

2021/2022 Film Awards Calendar

The eligibility period for feature film is March 1 – December 31 after last season’s extended eligibility that followed the Oscars, while television remains a January 1 – December 31 calendar year eligibility.

The PGA film documentary nominees will be announced on December, and the TV nominees for sports, children’s and shortform program will be revealed on January 13.

Along with returning to an in-person event, the PGA Awards in 2022 will also bring back their signature honors including the Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television, Visionary Award and Milestone Award. These were put on hold this past year to streamline the virtual ceremony, a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. They will also bring back the PGA Innovation Award, which is handed out to “the production of a noteworthy, impactful new media program that significantly elevates the audience’s viewing experience.” Those details will be announced at a later date.

Last year, the Producers Guild winners included the producing teams behind Nomadland, Soul, and My Octopus Teacher, all of which went on to win their respective categories at the Oscars and on television the winners were The Crown, Schitt’s Creek, The Queen’s Gambit, The Last Dance, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Hamilton. All but Schitt’s Creek are up for Emmy Awards later this summer.

Here is the complete timeline of key dates for the 33rd Producers Guild of America Awards.
