TRAILER: Tense First TV Spot for ‘Southpaw,’ starring Jake Gyllenhaal
It doesn’t come out for almost three months but the first TV spot for The Weinstein Company‘s Southpaw, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is out and it’s a tense 30 seconds. Gyllenhaal stars as Billy “The Great” Hope, an up and coming boxer trying to balance career and family and features Gyllenhaal in the polar opposite of physical shape from his Nightcrawler physique last year. Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) directs the film from a script by Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy) and Richard Wenk (The Mechanic). The timing of the spot is shrewd as the highly anticipated Mayweather/Pacquaio fight is May 2nd.
Check it out below.
Southpaw opens July 24th everywhere.
