TRAILER: The Powerful and Tragic Amy Winehouse Doc ‘Amy’
From the creators of the award-winning documentary Senna comes the trailer for the sobering and heartbreaking story of Amy Winehouse, who rose from obscurity to overnight Grammy-winning fame and success only to have it fall apart in a public and harrowing way. Director Asif Kapadia’s Amy played Out of Competition at Cannes last week to universal acclaim and will be released in the U.S. on July 3rd from A24.
Winehouse won five Grammys in 2008, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “Rehab” and a posthumous one in 2012 for “Body and Soul,” her duet with Tony Bennett for his album. She died on July 23, 2011 of alcohol poisoning.
