2017 Oscar Predictions: THE SCREENPLAYS (August)

Silence remains atop the Best Adapted Screenplay chart and the top four remain the same since the last update in June. Sully rounds out the top 5 but by a very slim margin against the dual #6 films, Lion and Love & Friendship.
Original Screenplay is a bit of a different story in that June’s #1, Loving, tumbles to 4th place and Manchester by the Sea is the new #1 by a healthy margin against the new #2, La La Land. The Birth of a Nation moves up one spot but a big 10 points in the process and Moonlight tumbles a bit due to still no word from A24 on a release, festival showing or even a first look. On the other side, A24’s 20th Century Women is starting to make a move here and I predict it will end up in the top 5 next month.
