Hannah Einbinder on the Legacy of ‘Hacks,’ Shipping Ava and Deborah and Who Makes Her Break the Most [VIDEO INTERVIEW]
After five seasons, the Max Original series Hacks has come to an end.
For Emmy-winning star Hannah Einbinder, it was her very first acting job and to this day she remains humble and surprised that she even got the gig. “They got the wrong guy,” she jokes. Einbinder may be born of LA comedy royalty (her mother is Saturday Night Live legend Laraine Newman) but she worked her way up the scene after graduating Chapman University (where she recently gave this year’s commencement speech) at the Just For Laughs festival and, in March of 2020 just before COVID hit, became the youngest stand-up performer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
In our conversation, Einbinder recalls her first day of shooting the series and connecting with Jean Smart, vibing with the fanbase who shipped Ava and Deborah during the series run, what the bisexual representation onscreen meant to her, what reality show she would want to be on and who on the cast makes her break the most, the answer might surprise you.
Hannah Einbinder is Emmy-eligible in the category of Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Comedy Series for Hacks.
