2015 Summer Box Office Predictions
3. Inside Out – $300M – June 19
We didn’t get a new Pixar film in 2014 so the anticipation for this is pretty huge. It might feel like a gamble to say Inside Out is going to hit $300M (only two other Pixar films ever have, Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo) but there are fewer groups that have had such a good summer track record as Pixar has. With a great voice cast that includes Amy Poehler, Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling and an emotional core that is the bread and butter of Pixar, I think this is going to be huge…

2. Minions – $325M – July 10
…but, not as huge as this. I’ll be pretty surprised if Minions doesn’t end up being the biggest animated hit of the year. When Despicable Me 2 destroyed its predecessors box office by over $100M in 2013, the minions went from side-players to major players. Their popularity is bigger than ever and people have been waiting for them to get their own film. Minions will be giants.
