2018 Oscars: SUPPORTING ACTRESS (December Part 2) – Laurie Metcalf is #1 for the first time
The Top 5 may be the same but we have a new #1. Just as in Best Actress, Lady Bird is flying high on the charts and Laurie Metcalf unseats Allison Janney (I, Tonya) for the first time. Metcalf has 16 critics’ awards win so far to Janney’s four. They both have Golden Globe, SAG and Critics’ Choice nominations and it will be interesting to see where things fall once the pre-Oscar televised awards land next month.
Holly Hunter (The Big Sick), Mary J. Blige (Mudbound) and Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water) stay in the top 5 (but only Blige earned GG, SAG, Critics’ Choice) but Hong Chau (Downsizing) and Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) are making their play. Chau has received GG, SAG and Critics’ Choice noms and Haddish has earned two critics’ awards, including NYFCC.
Catherine Keener (Get Out) moves up a bit and Bria Vinaite (The Florida Project) pops back in the lower half of the chart.
